Here is my dilemma today. I only have 4 SP slots. Which one of these pitchers do I bench? Cole, Bumgardner, Archer, Lester, Zimmermann?

Zimmermann - 3 straight losses with 14 ERs in 15 inn and a team that just can't seem to get it together.

Thing is the Brewers are terrible. I'd probably bench Cole.

Lester is driving me crazy. Every time I bench him he pitches well. If I don't bench him he sucks.

Probably not as good. Pretty sure hard throwing pitchers peak earlier than hitters.

He'll lose velocity as well as, for lack of a better word, excitement. No one can predict what added effectiveness experience will bring. Obviously he has the tools to have a verlander-like career, but it takes a lot more than tools to perform at a level like this for a decade.

Around 21 is the pitcher's velocity peak and it's downhill after that, obviously there are exceptions. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/pitcher- ... relievers/


What are his pitches and mix? I've seen him pitch but It seems to me he mostly throws fastball, curveball, both amazing but can he keep it up with just that?

So glad I benched Lester. I've been ahead of pace all year (this league uses a cap on Games Started instead of innings) and decided to keep Fister in and leave Lester on the bench. I just hope the rest of my decisions work out that well over the rest of the season.

Matt Carpenter 1-for his last-30 as I type this. That BABIP may be catching up to him, supporting those suggesting it could not be maintained. Could just be scuffling for a stretch, too.
