Greinke @COL
Lee v MIL

Lee and Verlander are pretty much start until their arms fall off. The real question for me is the talent of MadBum or the good matchup in Fernandez. Greinke has been meh this season, and it's a poor matchup, so he's probably the least likely to get a nod.

Most likely, Fernandez isn't going to pitch deep enough to have a good shot at a win ... if he even gets a lead at all. Gotta go with MadBum. I would not start Grienke right now though. Bad matchup and has hasn't looked right since he came back.

That's not really solid analysis on Fernandez. Not that I'd start him over Bumgarner, but only three times all season has Fernandez failed to pitch 5 innings, and while in April it was due to pitch count, his last start it was simply due to ineffectiveness. He's now thrown as many as 99 pitches in a game, and while he's still being handled with much caution (and rightfully so), the Mets lineup is a hair above AAA level. I imagine he will deal with them pretty handily, and maybe even have a shot at a W because the Mets are starting... Collin McHugh. Still, Bumgarner has pitched well enough in his 4 career starts vsSTL, is the superior and more polished current talent, has pitched relatively well despite some sporadic problems this year, has a better offense behind him, and is pitching the second game in a doubleheader, where some guys may rest for STL, like Yadi, so I'd start him.

Erlin and Buhrle better have a lot of gas today because they're not getting any help from the bullpen.

Maybe we can convince MLB to exclude his 3rd inning

No hitter after 5 with 7 K's ;-D

I seem to recall that Cain had a no hitter after 3 innings against the Cards first game of the season and then gave up nine runs on 8 hits in the 4th.

Allen Craig, Matt Carpenter on the bench for Game 2 of the Doubleheader. Maybe more. I'm not 100% sure who starts everywhere for them. Surprisingly Yadi is Catching again, and Beltran is starting, though you may see one or both make an early exit.
