Trade Profar/Myers Away? WHIR

Postby NYG1119 » Mon May 06, 2013 3:21 pm

10-Team, H2H
12 Categories
Batting: .AVG, HR, RBI, R, SB, TB
Pitching: ERA, W, K, WHIP, QS, SV

Roster = 27, DL = 3
Starters = C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, UTIL, P is Unlimited
3 Max for every position except OF and P, whether Relief or Starter.
3 Keepers

Okay I continue to improve my team, but now I'm at the point where I have guys that I can't part ways with once others like Cueto come off of the DL.

My Team
Miguel Montero
Russell Martin
Freddie Freeman
Mark Reynolds
Omar Infante
Neil Walker*
Jurickson Profar
Alcides Escobar
Alexei Ramirez
Didi Gregorius
Miguel Cabrera
Manny Machado
Nolan Arenado
Justin Upton
Carlos Gonzalez
Yoenis Cespedes
Austin Jackson
Brett Gardner
Wil Myers

Matt Cain
Madison Bumgarner
Matt Moore
Matt Harvey
Shelby Miller
Hisashi Iwakuma
Patrick Corbin
Tony Cingrani
Kyle Kendrick
Johnny Cueto*
Matt Garza*

Roster Breakdown = C(2), 1B(2), 2B(3), SS(3), 3B(3), OF(6), P(11)

I ended up dropping Freese for Arenado...just saw way too much potential in him and I can only have 3 3B's. Now since I have no room once the DL guys come back, is it worth trading like Gardner/Profar/Myers for a 2B like Kinsler. I know I might be giving the other team 2 guys with amazing potential, but I would rather have certainty rather uncertainty on my bench. Who knows when those guys will come up. Other team has Cano already and needs some help at OF.

You've got more room than you think. Garza isn't worth owning in a 10 team league. Mark Reynolds will start hitting .230 again soon. Profar and Myers likely won't play much this year. You only keep three, and that's pretty likely going to be Miggy, Justin and CarGo, so minor leaguers only hold the value that they will bring this year. Infante is decent, but not great. And you don't need two catchers.

I'm not by any means saying that you have a bad team. You don't. But you definitely have room to make cuts if you can roster a better player. If you can trade away a package for a better bat, do it.

Thanks for help with mine.

I'm not totally sold on Gregorius or Kendrick ... maybe one of them could go... OR package Profar with one of them.

Gregorious, Ramirez, Infante, Martin are all easily cuttable in a 10 teamer.
you dont need 3 crappy SS, and you dont need 2 mediocre catchers.

I would be trying to trade the guys you mentioned for some middle IF help. your 2b and SS situation looks pretty dismal

Maybe he starts two catchers. Yes I would go for broke and try for Cano.
