Picked him up on FA after the first couple games and I've been riding the wave of success since.
After looking more into his minor league history, it looks like he may have legitimate star power if he continues growing as a player. What do you guys think of him? Could he develop into a top 5 or even top 3 fantasy SS?

lack of power will keep him out of top 5 imo but he can be a very good SS going future.

He couldbe a top 5 SS. Probably not this year though.
He has 10-15 HR power in him at least. He has 25-35 SB in him at least. He has a potential for a .300 AVG.
Now this is his first year so I would temper expectations for this year but his future is something like current Starlin Castro. A better version of Aybar or Andrus. So he won't slot into the Tulo/Reyes level but he does fit into that 2nd tier.

I had a gut feeling that Jean would be much better than expected this year - a top 5 fantasy shortstop. I wasn't going to post it, as chances were it would have backfired in my face but I'm posting it now and it's only May.
Time to put my money where my mouth is - trading Ryan Zimmerman and Ben Zobrist for Miguel Cabrera. Seguera is my backup Shortstop for Zobby.

If I had Cabrera no way do I make that trade. Zobrist and Wright/Beltre and maybe I'd consider it if my SS was really bad.

Well it's an OPS league, so OBP counts for a lot. Zobby is like the second best SS behind Tulo and Zimm should come back and hit eventually. I might need to wait until ZImm comes back later this week and shows signs of life.
Wright and Zobrist and you wouldn't jump at that deal if you had a terrible SS?

It's not that bad. He has Alexei Ramirez at SS. Zobrist will give him 150 points in OPS and better counting stats. The difference between Miggy and ZImm, from this point, on is equivalent to Zobby vs Ramirez.
