Managing the bench in an H2H league

Postby st3v3k4hn » Thu Apr 04, 2013 1:58 pm

I play in a H2h categories league (standard 5x5, daily changes, 6 add/drops per week). I went into the draft with the idea of punting AVG, loading up on SP and power / speed guys. Not sure how well this worked; I defintely think I grabbed too many SPs too soon, and my outfield isn't great. So, comment there if you want.

But my real question has to do with managing your bench in a H2H league. I've heard several experts say not to carry any hitters on your bench. But I really like having guys to plug in on off-days, which is why I have Rutledge (altho I also really like his potential). And I like having guys that can address weaknesses in a category, which I why I have Revere to grab some additional steals. Thinking I might also need another power guy - someone like Quentin or Arencibia? And I would love to have a spot to pick up someone on a crazy hot streak like Dexter Fowler.

But I also really like all my pitchers. Buchholz and Ryu looked pretty good, and Teheran has looked great all spring. I normally stream but this year I am not sure I will have to.

So, drop Rutledge? Drop one of my pitchers? Or let things ride for now? Also, is it ok to have 2-3 hitters on the bench? Thanks.
