First ESPN draft and a few misteps. Team in need of help!

Postby thealchemist » Fri Mar 29, 2013 1:52 am

This was my first ever FB draft and a few bad clicks and I'm not really sure how it came out. Anyone have any feedback as to where I can improve? Any immediate trades I could aim for. I wound up with two top tier catchers (wasted 6th round pick, accident). I actually tried to pick Pujols and got Kemp. I'm not sure if that's good or bad yet. I'm really concerned about the 2B/SS positions. 10 person draft. Head to Head points. Scoring shown below. Any help would greatly appreciated.

My recommendation is to try to trade buster posey and peavy to get back a stud #2 outfielder or a great MI (thinking kinsler/reyes/kipnis similar) and get back an ace pitcher

the only hole I see is #3-4 outfielder and your MI position. NOW me personally I play a lot of deep leagues and I love andrelton simmons upside but - in a ten team league he is waiver wire fodder.

Your team is overall pretty good to maybe top 4. not a winner but it is very good. that's reality. if you make the right moves over the course of the season - you could win. don't sleep on this team in may - it could still compete in September.

(***note) - I said that last remark because as a whole I think your team will get off to a slow start - and finish very good - its up to you to pay attention to make that happen. I see a lot of guys who will slump in april (imagine if josh Reddick, yu darvish, matt moore, and Addison reed all get off on a sophomore slump) all those guys' opponents have had the off season to make adjustments, as have their pitching staffs and coaches. each of them could start slow but most of them have shown me the ability to improve and will meet their projections by the end of the year

Overall looks pretty good to me. Definitely trade one of the catchers (since they usually don't see as much play time as other positions). As previously mentioned, could use another stud OF. My biggest concern for you is a couple of the pitchers. As long as you monitor them, you should be fine. Halladay is headed downhill and I'd never trust any pitcher on the Rockies. lol.
