8 weeks is really nothing this early. You'll have him when it counts down the stretch. He'll be back by the end of May. You can pick up a guy similar to Soriano if you wanted.



8 weeks at this point is roughly 1/3 of the season (end of May best case). It is not trivial. And if the injury lingers or he has a seback it would not be surprising if he misses half the season.

That said, there is no point in dealing Ramirez at this point for next to nothing. You may as well just put him on your DL and hope you can muddle through the first couple of months.
