ROTO vs. H2H.. Please Specify

Postby etl1692 » Tue Mar 19, 2013 10:23 am

So my buddy asked me to join his 10 team ROTO league. I have never been in a ROTO. I always play in my 12 team Head 2 Head league.

1.) IS there much of a difference? Do u draft differently for certain categories?
2.) Which personally do u find more fun?
3.) Is having 2 leagues a ton of time? Time consuming, and a little too much?

1. Yes, but drafting depends on the categories. Roto is more of a season long event since there are no playoffs. I find hitting more important. Players with injuries are less valuable at season's start.

2. Roto by a mile.

3. Yes, but I think you will ultimately gravitate towards 1 league to focus on, with other leagues just being there for fun.

I personally prefer H2H because it's possible to catch up later in the season. Also, there's more trash talking since it's wins and losses. However, your win/loss record is more geared to what team you play each week (like football) than the overall performance of your players.

In H2H you'd probably look more for well rounded players to contribute across multiple categories. In roto you can tailor your lineup for specific attibutes like SB or HR only guys since you are competing for categories overall.

I like having more than one so I can see what folks are doing in other leagues that I can use in a different league. Helps keep you on your toes.
