Keeper Draft: How'd I do?

Postby Knights » Mon Mar 18, 2013 4:55 pm

Drafted yesterday in my 16-team 6x6 H2H keeper league, and came away with the roster below. Please take a quick look and let me know where you see my strengths/weaknesses, and what area's I should be looking to improve early on?

I know my closers are weak, but I went into this draft planning to wait on RP... after all, last year I ended up getting Tom Wilhelmsen and Santiago Casilla off the waiver wire. However I didn't plan on waiting as long as I did, as every time I was ready to draft a closer they guy(s) I wanted went a few picks before me. The end result is that I'll just play the waiver wire again at the start of this season.

I also had my eye on Matt Carpenter for back-up around the infield and Leonys Martin as an OF sleeper, however another owner grabbed both of them a round or two (10th and 8th, respectively) before I was prepared to draft them. I'm tempted to try to make an immediate trade offer for Carpenter, but given where this owner took him in the draft I'm wondering if it'll just fall on deaf ears so soon after the draft?

Anyway, here's my current roster. Any comments would be appreciated!

C Jonathan Lucroy(Mil - C)
1B Anthony Rizzo (ChC - 1B)
2B Dustin Pedroia (Bos - 2B)

Offense looks very good. I like Carpenter and Martin, but I see no need to trade for either. No sense in weakening your team to grab backup hitters.

Pitching is decent. Closers, obviously you may need to adjust (depending on what happens with Santos, who's still a nice speculative pick). Starters, your top 4 are all solid options, I like Griffin a lot, and Teheran is a good flier. Just keep an eye out for high upside call-ups.

Overall, I like the team. No glaring need, nothing you need to scramble for.

Ya keep a look out for Gerrit Cole and Dylan Bundy.

Other wise looks like your team is solid for a 16 team league.
Beachy is a clever pick to stash and hope hes good to go for a strong second half.
