Which Pitcher to claim (WHIR)

Postby BUCCOFAN » Sun Mar 17, 2013 11:28 pm

Looking to improve my bottom end of the pitching staff. its a 10 team Roto 6x6 ESPN Head to Head league,

Pitching stats:
Earned Run Average (ERA)* Strikeouts (K)
Walks plus Hits Per Innings Pitched (WHIP)* Wins (W)
Quality Starts (QS) Saves Plus Holds (SVHD)
*Minimum 10 IP

We have 5 bench slots and I am currently using only 1 bench slot for a pitcher. and would like to upgrade on Tommy Hanson.

PITCHING STAFF:
SP - D.Price
SP - M.Cain
SP - RA.Dickey
SP - J.Lester
SP - D.Holland
SP - C.Buchholz
RP - R.Soriano
RP - A.Reed
RP - E.Frieri
BN - T.Hanson (Upgrade? or Stand pat?)

Waiver Options that stand out include:
SP - J.Garcia (STL)
SP - R.Dempster (BOS)
SP - K.Loshe (FA) (rumors of the Brewers signing?)
SP - M.Buehrle (TOR)
SP - I.Nova (NYY)
SP - WY.Chen (BAL)
SP - U.Jimenez (CLE)
SP - J.Masterson (CLE)

Stay for now, don't like Hanson but not too much to like in FAs

A healthy Garcia would be ok though---he's making a spring start this, check that performance.

Hanson is better than the others you posted, maybe Lohse if he signs soon.

I prefer Lohse to Buccholz easily, provided he signs.
Some decent sleepers: Cobb, Erasmo whatshis name from Seattle, Teheran, Niese, Gee, J.A. Happ, miay be available..?

I would add Lohse now. Then if he doesnt sign I am sure you can get Hanson or someone on his level when the time comes

I like Cobb and Tehran's upside.. Good value on sleepers. Then I say Lohse, or Garcia
