Which 5 - WHIR

Postby Cream » Sat Mar 02, 2013 7:43 pm

ESPN H2H points league - 10 teams. I can keep up to 5 players. $260 budget. Salary is the same as drafted for first year a player is kept, but increases $5 every subsequent year. Player must have been drafted in order to be kept. I'm thinking that I keep my bargains and then target players like Braun and Upton in the draft, even if it means paying a little more.

I've got three obvious bargains, but then I think the final two comes down to a few players. I won't influence anyone though with who I'm thinking.

C - Avila $9
1B - Goldschmidt $3 ;-D
2B - Kipnis $2 ;-D
3B - Longoria $39
SS - Castro $12
MI - Tulo $39
CI - Belt $1
OF - Pence $19
OF - Jennings $12
OF - Rios $4
OF - Braun $44
OF - J Upton $31
Util - Morse $15
BN - Kubel $4
BN - Crawford $17
BN - Napoli $20

P - Zimmermann $8
P - Moore $17
P - Latos $ 13
P - Wandy $6
P - Sale $4 ;-D
P - Dempster $2
P - Peavy $1
P - Milone - not drafted *edit - to clarify - can't be kept
P - Medlen - not drafted *edit - to clarify - can't be kept
BN - Anderson - not drafted *edit - to clarify - can't be kept
BN - Norris $1

Agree. Castro and Medlen. If you want to get even cheaper you could keep Medlen and Anderson.

He can't keep Medlen.
I'd keep Castro for sure and a 1b Peavy (he's got ace potential despite the slight risk) and for a buck you take that.

I'd go Castro and Peavy. Rios would get some consideration but he's too iffy. Peavy for $1 could be twenty times that value.

Tried to see if there was anything about undrafted players in the OP but I guess I overlooked it. Castro and Peavy for me as well.

Castro at $12 belongs in the obvious bracket. I like Peavy at $1, Zimmermann at $8 is also nice.

I guess I missed on Castro - never bought into the hype, but I am now. I'm having a hard time throwing Rios back, but Peavy at $1 is too good. I can probably still get Rios at a discount because people don't believe in him and won't pay full price. Peavy will certainly go for more than $1 this year.

Goldschmidt $3
Kipnis $2
Castro $12
Sale $4
Peavy $1

Gives me $238 going into the draft. I can work with that.

I'm new to fantasy baseball so with that said, I'd probably go a different route and keep Latos and M Moore unless you think you can get them for cheaper during your auction. Zimmerman at 8 seems good too. I'm not a believer in Castro yet and while Peavy is a great deal for 1- i think the other guys will do better.
