Rd 7 offline draft...I'm next. Who to take? WHIR!

Postby dmbpanic » Fri Mar 01, 2013 1:34 am

10-team 5x5 Y! H2H Keeper league. We can keep up to 5 players and a player can only be kept for 5 seasons before going back into the draft. Trading a player does NOT reset their keeper clock.

We are doing a slow, offline draft for rounds 6 - 10 and I'm up for round 7.

NOTES:
- I'm 95% sure I'm going to take a SP, so I'm primarily interested in knowing which SP you think I should take.
- If you really think I should take someone other than a SP, let me know, but I'd still appreciate you telling me which SP you think would be best. :)
- I'm not sure if I'll use Hanley as a SS or 3B.
- Our league tends to put more of a premium on starting pitching than the normal league.
- My next four picks will be SP, 3B or SS, SP, OF. I think it will be in that order, but I'm open to your thoughts.

Leave a link and I'll reply!

What pick do you have? I like Austin or Choo, especially if you have a late round pick, then you can take a pitcher next and decide between one of the remaining 3B or SS the your 8th round

I'm the 3rd pick in the 7th round...so 14 players will come off the board before I pick in the 8th round.

Since you said your league favors starting pitching more than most and the fact that it's a keeper league I'd probably go with Matt Moore or Latos or Sale. I guess I'd lean toward Moore but they're all good and young, unlike a veteran like Halladay. I'd also definitely start Hanley at SS- he's more valuable there imo, so draft a decent 3B.

I would draft Lawrie or Jackson and wait for 8 to draft a SP. I

I'd go SS or 3B with this pick.
There are a lot of SP in that list to choose from and all will probably give comparable numbers.
It's Elvis or Lawrie for me.

I think for SP I lean Scherzer first, then Moore/Medlen, Zimmermann.

Thanks for the help on mine.

Newbie hear so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. Personally, I think Sale is somewhat of a risk. The sample size from his first two years isn't huge, but he's regressed in pretty much all the non-counting statistics each year. Of course, his role changing from RP to SP probably had a lot to do with that. If he can level out, that'd be great, but I'd at least keep that in mind (as well as his arm issues from last year) as you make your decision. He's still young enough to improve, of course. In the end, I'd probably lean toward Moore also.

On a side note, I'm a little surprised both Dickey and Sabathia are both already gone. You aren't joking when you say your league puts a high value on SP. Let me guess, the same guy kept both of them?

I say you take a reliever. Preferably Rivera. Probably the best pick at this point.
