Yeah the doctor was in surgery all day so they probably won't find out until tomorrow.

A day after the Cardinals’ bullpen blew another lead, Mike Matheny didn’t announce any switches in bullpen roles. But he also didn’t brush off the possibility. “We’ll just see how the game goes,” Matheny said.

Possibly you last chance to get Rosenthal in the shallower leagues.

Jason Motte (elbow) could need Tommy John

An MRI Tuesday on Jason Motte's right elbow revealed a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament.

He will be shut down until May 1, and if he cannot progress by that point, he will undergo Tommy John surgery. Motte was originally diagnosed with a flexor tendon strain, but with that inflammation having subsided, a clearer picture of his ligament was available. It's obviously a potentially big blow to the Cardinals, especially after the ninth-inning debacle they had Monday. Mitchell Boggs will continue to close for now, but Trevor Rosenthal could eventually get a shot.

I don't recall a single incidence of a partially torn UCL being fixed without surgery.

Isn't Billingsley pitching through a similar injury or something?

Yep Billingsley is trying to do the same thing. He's a ticking time bomb, if you ask me. Could be partially why the Dodgers signed 2 big FA starting pitchers despite having a full rotation. I guess Takashi Saito did it successfully 5 years ago. It's pretty rare though. In most cases it just delays TJ surgery.

I'd go with Rosenthal over Axford. He probably won't kill your ratios while you wait to see if he'll get any save chances.

who is #1 to replace Soriano in Wash?
Im sure he has a long leash, but he has been shaky. And tonight is no different. I still like Storen, since he never really got a chance to prove himself in the 9th. Something to keep an eye on.

Yep, Axford was terrible.

Marmol gave up a double and almost hit a guy. Fujikawa warming up in the 'pen and will come in for the 9th.

Holland in for the Royals in the 9th up 7-4. First batter rips one to the warning track, good catch by the LF. Then Parmeleee swings at ball four, so Holland throws the next one way inside and walks him anyway. It's raining, but Holland can't throw strikes, looks terrible. Walked the bases loaded and Herrera is warming up. K'd Mauer for the final out.

I'm sorry, but Holland is a total dumpster fire right now.
