Hes sitting at just 92-93 with he fastball tonight vs Oakland, 8th inning with a 5 run lead.
Perhaps not the best handcuff in Seattle's pen?

Going with Pryor after seeing this too.

Havok

I noticed you placed Benoit as the Tigers closer, why do you have Coke so far back in the pecking order and Dotel as next man up? I'm not slamming you I'm just curious your reasoning.

Reed (CWS) takes care of KC, 1-2-3, earns 2nd save.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone that this isn't a Game Commentary thread, so posts like these should really be reserved for the daily GC Thread, unless it's relevant in discussion to a specific closer's role, potential, etc. ;-D

I think League will get a lot of saves this year and they will be happy with Jansen in the higher leverage setup role where he doesn't have to pitch as many back to back days.

Tonight's game is why I was so down on Coke. Ender was right in that he is a good stash for those who want a couple short term saves and a guy who won't blow up your ratios. But when the Tigers start trying to use him as an actual closer is when he gets into trouble. He simply can't get righties out (.396 BAA in '12).

The mix and match thing is not going to last for Leyland, it's not his style. I can see Dotel or Albuquerque getting a shot now. I think Benoit stays in the 8th and Coke will be continue to be used in high leverage (yes, save) situations when he needs a LHP. I think Villarreal has great stuff but Leyland doesn't seem to want to trust him in big situations yet. A few more blowups by the other guys and he might start to think about it.

In short:
Dotel/Albuquerque
Coke (situational lefty)
Benoit (8th)
Villareal (dark horse)

This is all speculation of course, but that is the best anyone can do right now. I would love to hear someone else's opinion about the pecking order.
