You've had RPs transition to SP successfully before. Chris Sale being the most recent. You've also had SPs turn into Closers too. Although those were usually mediocre starters or injured starters that turned into great relievers. Such as Gagne, Smoltz, and even Schilling temporarily.
I love mock drafts.

Motte felt a bite in his right elbow after pitching Thursday and was diagnosed with a strain of the flexor tendon, an injury that will keep him out indefinitely. The club Saturday classified the injury as a “mild” tear or stretching of the tendon. Further examination of the joint in the coming days will determine the precise severity as the club did not have a timetable for Motte’s rehab and what point he could try throwing again.

It has been reported as a grade 1 strain but I have zero faith in the Cardinal's medical staff. Hopefully they don't rush him back but it sounds like at least two weeks to start.

I believe, to quote Will Carroll, that a strain is a tear, just not as big of one.

I would take League over Boggs, because he may actually have the job all year. Even if Motte is out for longer, I wouldn't be surprised to see Trevor Rosenthal pass Boggs in STL.

League is the easy choice. It is pretty unlikely he loses the job as much as people want Jansen to get the job.

Rosenthal popped into my head too. Boggs is taken in my league but how viable is Rosenthal as closer? Is he worth stashing over a guy like David Robertson?

That's a good question. In a keeper league, I think the answer is no, because Robertson will probably close next year after Rivera retires. In redraft leagues, I'd say the answer is still no, because for Rosenthal to have value Motte would have to stay injured AND Boggs would have to be injured/ineffective.

Frank Frank could get it back. Parnell is far from a certainty there.

True, but would you really want what comes with Frank Frank for a few saves? :-o

My bet for Motte is he comes back in early May. I doubt he will be rushed back from this sort of injury. If he is rushed back, there is a good bet he reaggravates it and is done for the year.
Frankie may have a shot but Parnell was decent last year down the stretch when he had the job. As we saw last year anything is possible.

League>>Boggs.

Robertson is pretty equal to Rosenthal in terms of K potential and peripherals but I think Roberston has a better shot at the job this year. He is next in line while Rosenthal is 3rd in line, as others have pointed out.
