What will happen in MIL when Henderson comes back? (When is that?) Will F-Rod hold onto the closer role or will it go back to Henderson?

Gregerson/Thayer time boys. Scoop 'em up!

Which one? Gregerson and Thayer have been equally endorsed in this thread as the Street replacement

I would have to think it would be Gregerson. he's been better than Thayer.

Some people like Gregerson some like Thayer. Me personally, I am getting Gregerson.

FWIW, 19.1 of Gregerson's 23.2 IP have come in the eighth inning, where he's allowed just one earned run (on solo HR). Could be a gift and a curse if they decide they don't want to mess with his role. Thayer has throwing 9.1 innings in the 7th (6.75 ERA) and 6 innings in the 8th (1.50 ERA). My best guess would be Gregerson closing and Thayer to 8th, but you never know.

I believe Thayer took the job last year while Street missed time. Has Gregerson been their 8th inning guy? Also, how long is Valverde's leash? Benoit worth stashing? He's better than Valverde but hasn't had much success in the 9th.

From what I hear/read, the knock on Benoit is that he can't go too many days in a row, which limits him in terms of being the full-time closer.

Gregerson is by far the better pitcher. Thayer is a journeyman minor league pitcher who finally made it to the bigs last season on a full time basis.

Having said that, Gregerson is one of the best set up guys in the business. The Padres may not want to change his role, therefore using Thayer to close as they did last year when Street was injured.
