The League is a 12 team 5X5, H2H, with QS instead of wins, daily roster moves. I can keep 10.
C Yadier Molina
1B Joey Votto
2B Danny Espinosa
3B Brett Lawrie
SS Derek Jeter
LF Alfonso Soriano
CF Curtis Granderson
RF Justin Upton
Util Nick Swisher
BN Ángel Pagán
BN Delmon Young
BN Michael Young
SP Yovani Gallardo
SP James Shields
SP Brandon Morrow
RP Jason Motte
RP Chris Pérez
RP Sergio Romo
P Doug Fister
P Homer Bailey
P Ryan Dempster
BN Tim Hudson
BN Edwin Jackson
BN Tommy Milone
BN Huston Street
I know, nothing to get too excited about. However, I did finish in 5th place and I'm looking to improve for next season. I can trade before the keeper deadline in January. Who do you think I should keep? who(m) would bring the best return in a trade?

Last two spots are the most difficult. First thought was to go with Espinosa and Motte. I don't really like keeping a closer and Espinosa is just an ok 2B and not really a keeper IMO. This could change if your league has a tendency to lean a certain way. For instance if closers are usually kept then I would keep Perez over Espinosa. If closers are easy to find then maybe I take a flyer on Bailey or Jackson instead.

Since I only have 6 solid keeper bats, I am leaning towards keeping one closer(something I don't usually do). I have narrowed it down between Motte and Perez.

I'm basically in agreement. Espinosa does qualify at SS as well. Regardless, I have Jeter ahead of him for 2013. I would hold Motte and Jeter with the final 2 spots.

I don't see Swisher as a Keep either, A case can be made for Jeter.

Not sure why Chris Perez gets so much love.
A career 4.19 xFIP. He is so risky and overrated.
Romo has the lowest whip over the last 2 years, plus Brian Wilson is about done.
Agree with the info about Perez. Going into last year, Perez was on the verge of losing the closing job. I wouldn't buy into his numbers from last year just yet. I like Romo as well, just worried about the closing situation in SF. They seemed to give it to everyone but Romo when Wilson went down so it worries me that they will decide to go with someone else next season.

I think this is going to be my ten. Thanks for all the input. I'd rather keep Jeter than a closer that's not assured a coloser job. I usually wouldn't keep a closer or 3 SP's, but considering the lack of quality bats in the line up here, I have no choice. maybe I can grab a young bat with upside with my first pick.
Thank you all again.
