My Sandoval/Sheets/RCook/Nova for his RSoriano/Beckett/De Az

Postby garretterik » Tue Aug 07, 2012 4:13 am

I am in 2nd place in my 12 team 5x5 Standard Roto redraft league. (1pt back). The places where I can make up ground are SB, SV, ERA, and WHIP
My current standings: R(4th), HR(4th), RBI(2nd), SB(4th), AVG(1st), Wins(1st), SV(5th), K(3rd), ERA(6th), WHIP(9th)
There also are GREAT players sitting on the ww. ARod, Uggla, Pagan, Revere, Span, Chipper, Rutledge, Cain, Ciriaco, CJohnson, Feldman, Minor, Buchholz, Holland, Cischek, Francisco, Affedlt, Romo, Perkins, Burton, Straily, BMorrow, BMcCarthy, JParker, Detwiler, Cashner

I have been going back and forth with 6th place team (and saves leader).
I offered him Zobrist/Harvey for RSoriano
He offered me Parnell/Bell for my Sandoval :-P :-P
I counter with Sandoval/Zobrist for RSoriano
He countered with Sandoval, Tulo/Sheets for Parnell/Soriano/Hosmer/Beckett

What do you think of the final counter
My Sandoval/Sheets/RCook/Nova for his RSoriano/Beckett/and .... De Aza (would help with R and SB), then I grab an arm off the ww. OR JSantana (should be back soon) and then I grab Rutledge off the ww.

My analysis:
I think he gets better value in this trade. But I dump Nova and Cook. Sandoval at best would be fighting with JBruce for occasional starts at my last utility spot. And I give up a good SP. In return I get one of the top 5 closers in RSoriano, a headache in Beckett, either De Aza's speed, or JSantana's arm, and a ww spot.

Other ideas?

Hey....Thxs for replying to my post....

1St off I wanted to say that I don't like this offer at would be giving up a great SP in Nova and Sheets and getting crap n Beckett. De Aza has been decent but I feel he is one of those lights that go on and off quite frequently and have no clue where you would play him since I would not start him over your other OF/Util guys. I feel Cook gets quite a bit of saves but he has slipped and could be out of a job if he keeps blowing saves and Soriano is a save stud so I can see you wanting to get him.

I think Panda can be great and he has been pretty decent this year but no where close to his level and he keeps getting hurt. I feel you have a couple of options here. I feel if you can get Soriano straight for Panda then I would do it. You could also try and trade Tulo since you have Hanley at SS already so....Hanley hasn't been awesome but he has been pretty decent and not sure Tulo will be coming back but a stud is a stud so....if you trade Hanley then I would pick up Rutledge until Tulo comes back...

To be honest all in all I would try and trade Panda since your 3B is covered and your 1B is covered with Goldy/Rizzo so like you said...where will Panda go when he returns. I would also try trading Tulo/Hanley if you can get great value from either of them since where will you play 2 SS's at? If you need Saves though then def try for Soriano but don't let the other guy low ball you....I feel Panda for Soriano straight up is fair enough considering there are saves guys on the WW as well! (Cishek, Holland) whom are serviceable but probably not many opportunity's. As far as the SB's your lacking I feel you just need to get back on have guys that can get those but just aren't at the moment (Bourn, Zobrist, Hanley, even some from Kemp) they need to get those but I don't think De Aza will cut it and make you stronger in that CAT since I feel he is overrated.

Good Luck M8!

Thanks for the response on mine. I agree with WhipperSnappers44...I don't like the package offer at all. If anything, deal from a position of strength and just try to shore up the saves situation by seeing if he'll take Panda for Soriano straight up. Not a big De Aza fan either. I would sooner wait for your team to turn it around, which they SHOULD, before I gave up real assets to get a guy like de Aza.
