Fielder/Haren/Bundy for Tex/Sabathia? WHIR

Postby KSChris » Tue Jul 24, 2012 5:10 pm

I would be giving Fielder/Haren/Bundy and getting Tex/Sabathia.

This is a 16 team keeper league. 10 keepers per team, $260 max salary.

The price bumps:

$1-9: $2 bump each season.
$10-19: $3 bump each season
$20+: $4 bump each season.

With that said, I need to know if this is a good deal.

Prince Fielder is $26
Dan Haren is $36
Dylan Bundy is $1

Mark Teixeira is $30
C.C. Sabathia is $31

Right now, I've got Fielder and Bundy pencilled in as keepers. More than likely, neither Tex nor C.C. would be keepers for me.

However, I'm competing and think I've got a good shot at the championship this year. Here is my team for comparison's sake:

C Yadier Molina
1B Prince Fielder
2B Ian Kinsler
3B Pablo Sandoval
SS Alcides Escobar
OF Hunter Pence
OF Curtis Granderson
OF Adam Jones
UT David Ortiz
BN Emilio Bonifacio (2B, 3B, SS, OF)
BN Nick Castellanos
BN Oscar Taveras

SP Jered Weaver
SP Felix Hernandez
SP Tim Lincecum
SP Chris Capuano
SP Kyle Lohse
SP Dan Haren
SP Jose Quintana
SP Josh Beckett
SP Nick Diamond
SP Dylan Bundy
RP Fernando Rodney
RP Chris Perez
RP Huston Street

Now I guess my question is.. Fielder and Tex are pretty close production-wise, with Tex having a hotter power bat (19 vs 15 HRs) but Tex hits 40 pts lower in batting average.

But getting C.C. would make my pitching staff pretty dominant with Weaver and Felix at the top, and guys like Lohse and Capuano offering low ERA.

Are the benefits this season in my championship hunt enough to offset losing Fielder/Bundy as keepers?

Chances are I would probably not keep Fielder after next year anyway, because of the price increase.. he will be $30 after this year, and $34 after next year.

I'm conflicted.

It's a complicate scenario, but I would definitely rather have the Fielder side. Plus, Bundy has great value.
