This conversation happened a few weeks ago, but I'll just reiterate that there was a large contingent of people suggesting that Middlebrooks was playing well above his head and that Youkilis was far from done. Both of these seem to be the case.SpecialFNK wrote:it wasn't a stretch to think Youkilis was done. he's 33 this season, and has missed multiple games in recent seasons.
Middlebrooks is the 3B of the future and at the time it seemed like the time to make the move permanent instead of keeping Youkilis around.
There's lots of guys who hit more HR than Youk but aren't as good a hitter as he is.SpecialFNK wrote:I remember the conversation some. whether Middlebrooks is playing above his head this season he has more potential going forward than Youkilis. maybe not this season, but next season plus he could have more HR per season than Youkilis ever had in a season. he has 10 HR this season with Boston and he had 9 in the minors. he could be 30+ a season next season going forward.
