Help with my first keeper league

Postby Procraserbator » Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:02 pm

So this year is my first year playing in a keeper league and I died out in the first half. However the perk of being in a keeper league is I get to start planning for next year. Though as I said this is my first year and I could really use some help.

Keeper League Basics
Each manager can keep 5 players. The draft is done by auction and each manager has $300 to fill 27 spots. Each keeper will cost $5 on top of their previous auction price.

Who would you keep of the guys below
The price next to their name is their total cost including fees. The players beside them are people that went for that price at auction this year.Bare in mind what these players were worth before the season. And that in this league pitchers are equally valued.

Rizzo $5 (Marmol, Hudson, Street)
Rollins $14 (Kennedy, Pineda, Papelbon, Goldshmidt)
Jeter $11 (Gardner, Beachy, Latos, Swisher, Ortiz)
Adam Jones $21 (Arod, Napoli, Uggla, Pence)
Heyward $15 (Bourne, Kimbrel, Bumgarner)
Furcal $5 (Worth, Brian Wilson and Jeter were $6 each)
Beltran $12 (Howard, Kendrick, Victorino)
Lohse $5
Harrison $5
Hughes $5
Edwin Jackson $5
Marcum $7 (Hardy, Storen, Ichiro and Beltran)

Wow this is tough. Adam Jones and Heyward are locks as keepers or at least locks from that group. I would suggest you start making some deals for next year. You have some guys that could be very useful (Beltran, Jackson, Marcum, Harrison, Furcal, Jeter) to teams that are in the race and I would look to see if you could land someone like Hosmer, Matt Moore, Lawrie or even Justin Upton. Because right now outside of Jones and Heyward you don't have anything that is going to set you up for a championship next year.
