we might need instant replay in the HR derby. Fielder hit one that looked like it barely cleared the wall before coming back on the field, but apparently they're not counting it.

It's not uncommon for lines to shift if they're betting Live, and didn't shut it down when the Derby started. Still, Joey Bats is taking this thing.

Sure, I know that. The point I was making was that no way Fielder should have drifted to 15/1 in a 5 man comp. Particularly when Cano was going to be under extra pressure from the crowd.

Fielder wins this easy. Bautista won't hit 5.

He was 5/1 last I saw the lines prior to the event starting. 15/1 is bizarre.

Well I was right, he didn't hit 5 :-D

Seriously though, Fielder was a deserved winner. He was hitting them 450ft regularly to centre field. Bautista hit a few bombs but mostly pulls barely 400ft.

Nobody has won back to back derby's since Ken Griffey Jr. in '98/'99. DREADFUL PREDICTION CANO IS NOT GRIFFEY

Well it was a guy who has won before, just not the one I picked. Cano couldn't handle the boos.

I don't know why Fielder was such an afterthought going in. Even I forgot about him and was focusing on guys like Stanton (before his injury), Cano, Trumbo, and Bautista for my pick.

At least Bautista put on a good show and broke Rios' Jays record, anyway.

Bautista quoted Ricky Bobby in his post-derby interview. Didn't peg him as a Will Ferrell fan.

Even though he didn't win, it's a nice consolation that he's leading the majors in actual home runs for the third season in a row. And at least he didn't embarrass himself at the derby like last year.
