Trade some pitching? 100% WHIR

Postby bpizle » Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:20 am

Okay so guys I have quite the dilemma, my team has dropped to 4-7 (Thank God I am in a weak division) only two games back. I know its early, but my bats are not near what they need to be for a deep push. My pitching has been solid and this week is the first week since the beginning of the year that I have all my arms back at full strength. I have recieved lots of hits on Josh Johnson, Dan Haren, and Justin Verlander but in this league pitching is considered more valuable (at least i thought). Points wise in this league (h2h cbs platinum, scoring below) pitchers have more "potential" to put up big numbers, but hitters are considered to be more "consistant". My issue is,

A. trade Verlander/McCutchen type combo for some big bats i.e(Wright, Reyes, Gio?)

B. Stay put and let pitching staff turn on.

C. Trade haren or Johnson

Just take a look at my roster and tell me some things, I am 100% WHIR, just need some help on this guys.

Unless there is a ton of talent available on the wire, I think you have to stay put. At first I was going to say option C to try and move either Haren or JJ, but after looking at your roster, I don't think that you have enough to support the loss of one of those big arms. Maybe you can try to sell high on Davis and package him with Freeman or something like that rather then give up one of your arms.

I would stay put and look for bats on the wire. If you're in a weak division and have weathered so far. If you were to trade Verlander, your staff can't take that hit. If you can get a decent return for Haren or Johnson, but I would want a decent bat and pitcher in return.

Don't blow up the staff. Deal perhaps one of your hot lower end hitters and a sandy maybe for a proven bat that has yet to catch fire.

If anything, maybe do option C. But you probably won't be able to get their true value in return right now.

So maybe just stay put or do something like sigriffey suggested.
