Hanley Ramirez for Troy Tulowitzki in a Keeper?

Postby Knights » Sat May 19, 2012 8:49 am

I'm in a 6x6 H2H keeper league, keeping 6 players each season.

I'm looking at potentially offering up Hanley Ramirez in order to get Tulo in a trade. One of the main reasons for this is that I have Brett Lawrie as my 3B keeper next season, and I want to try to ensure that I can have a solid keeper at an equally shallow SS position after Hanley potentially loses SS-eligibility next season.

The added benefit of this trading partner... he doesn't have a solid long-term 3B, so he could plug Hanley into Tulo's spot in his roster for this season, and then have a solid 3B keeper for next year (with the chance for SS-eligibility too if Ramriez somehow gets enough starts/appearances to qualify).

While Ramriez has seemed to heat up with the bat in May, Tulo has cooled down and had some minor injury issues. Should this be a concern in making a potential deal?

And should I make an offer, where do I start - Do I begin with a straight-up Hanley for Tulo and gauge the response?

I'd love to add a SP too though, so could I make it a package deal: what would I have to offer to get Tulo and Gallardo or Zimmermann? I know he liked Garcia and Minor at the start of the season... granted Minor has had a rough stretch.

Both rosters are below, any feedback is apprecitaed.

I wou;d take Tulo even if both qualified at SS next year. With the fact that HRam will not qualify, it is a steal. Make the offer and gauge interest from there.

I think it is worth a shot for Tulo straight up and will hopefully give you an idea where the owner values Tulo. I don't think it will be enough but it is a good place to start.

Tulo tends to heat up later into the season and there are few players that can go on hot streaks like what Tulo can do. Excellent buy low candidate.

Hanley looks like a guy whose better days are behind him. Straight up for Tulo probably won't be enough. Try it and if he declines throw in Jaime Garcia or some other low tier player as a kicker

I would grab Tulo straight up as well, like previous owner said send it straight up see where he values Tulo and go from there. If you are looking to grab his best pitcher you will have to give up something he really likes. GL
