Least Valuable Pitcher..... Seeking Advice!

Postby etl1692 » Mon May 14, 2012 6:40 pm

Okay so I currently am 4-2 in my league. In 4th place. Points wise I am not too high up there, but I still seem to beat my opponent. I think pitching may be part of my flaw but it isn't terrible. I am just looking to tweak my pitching a little. So my question is, should I go for one of these guys? Or just stay put for now? This move wont make a huge difference, but it may be necessary. If so who do I drop?

League: 12 teams, H2H, Points System
Pitching: IP=1 W=10 L=-5 CG=10 SHO=10 SV=5 ER=-1 BB=-1 HBP=-1 K=-1 WP=-1 BLK=-1 Pick=2 NH=20 PG=25

Jeff Nieman (Really like his stuff, and on a solid Rays team!)
Santiago Casilla (Full-time closer, might be worth a look)
James Mcdonald (Great prospect, good stuff, but on the PIRATES!)
Wei-Yin Chen (On a decent Oriels team (wait did I just say that?) Looks impressive, but pitching vs. Yanks tomorrow?)
Phil Hughes (I actually just saw this guy on FA's and a little surprised. As I dont really like his stuff that much, he could add some excellent value! Especially on a team like the Yanks!
Andy Pettitte: I still like this pick-up even though he had gotten the loss yesterday. Maybe its because I'm a yanks fan, but will he add value to my team, or is he just too old? Wins are rewarded with 10 pts, which is alot, so I figure Pettitte will rack up SOME wins right?

Drew Smyly: Another person I like. Good run support when the Tigers find their bats. Also a great young prospect!

Jonathon Niese: Scares me a little that he is on the Mets. He has a low ERA, but as I stated Wins are 10pts, and on this mets team and their bullpen, I dont see too many wins in Niese's future. I like his stuff, but I dont know if he is valuable enough to hold onto in my league.

Mike Minor: Not much on this guy. On a decent team, another youngen, waiting for him to break out.... If ever

Now just because it may seem like I like Pettitte and Smyly on my team does not mean its the right decision. Based on my scoring for pitchers, who is the least valuable pitcher on my team?

P: C.C. Sabathia*; P: Mat Latos ; P: Josh Beckett ; P: Ryan Dempster ; P: Shaun Marcum ; P: Max Scherzer ; P: Jonathon Niese ; P: Mike Minor ; P: Drew Smyly ; P: Andy Pettitte ; RP: Fernando Rodney ; RP: Chris Sale

Pick up Casilla. I really like Minor but he is not producing right now and you will be able to find another arm that is similar if needed.

I agree with what the guy above says and that is a good option, but I also might go Niemann and drop Minor, He has done fairly well for me, and I am praying he keeps it going against Toronto tonight
