Dynasty trade Holliday+ for Alex Gordon+

Postby Seatownfavorite » Sun Apr 29, 2012 11:48 pm

Been offered an interesting trade in a 12 team ROTO Dynasty.

Matt Holliday & Steve Cishek

Alex Gordon & Henry Rodriquez

My team:
C: Posey
1B: Pujols
2B: Kipnis
SS: Dee Gordon
3B: Hanley Ramirez
INF: Cozart
LF: Gordon
CF: Murphy
RF: Bruce
OF: Heyward
UTIL: Weiters
BN: Nelson Cruz, Trout, Belt, Eric Young
DL: Gardner

4SP: Hernandez, Hamels, Lincecum, Beachy
2RP: Jansen, Venters
3P: Henry Rodriguez, Fernando Rodney, Casilla
BN: Moore, Derek Holland, Adams, Bass, Luis Perez

My initial reaction was do it, but then I looked at Hollidays stats the last couple seasons and I'm just underwhelmed. Not that Gordon is a sure thing but he is 4 years younger. Don't know that I want to give up the saves for a slight upgrade.

Which side do you take?

I would take this in a heartbeat.
Holliday has a proven track record of elite production. He plays in a great offense and even if his ceiling is ~28 HRs now he still will rack up tons of runs and rbi.
Gordon is not very exciting to me. He had a nice season last yr but he was awful before that and has been awful this year up until 4 games ago.
And Rodriguez is only a temp closer. Unless your league counts holds he wont be worth much at all as soon as Storen comes back

Hard call here. Holliday has looked really bad this year. I sat behind home plate today and his batting eye is just awful right now. He does seem to get his stats, and last year just looked down because of missing some games for random things (moth flying into his ear etc....). Gordon is good but streaky, and he is going to start putting up solid seasons now that there are some other good hitters in KC. The H-Rod and Nishek part of the deal is fairly minor as they offer similar values, both being in line for saves with injuries, but just not worth the difference in Holliday/Gordon. Given the choice, I would take the deal. You're getting Holliday at very fair value, and he could end up being a great player for you if he gets it rolling, with far less risk than Gordon.

I think I take the deal here. I am worried about Gordon because he is looking similar to the player he was in 2010 which isn't good. Holliday has been a top 10 OF in the past I still think he can be that kind of guy.

I think I also would take the deal.. I'm a gordon owner, but he has not looked the same as last year. He's started to pick it up a little bit lately, but still I think Holliday is the winner in this deal. The pitchers are nonfactors really.. I like rodriguez better, but it's not a deal breaker.

Thoughts on mine? topic.php?t=445610
