7x7 Keeper league Team...any weaknesses??

Postby davidoffgoodlife » Fri Apr 02, 2004 4:05 am

Hey guys...let me know what you think. Last year we (my brother and I co-managed this keeper team) got 5th place due to injuries of several players during August/Sept. In this year's draft, I tried focus on durability and upside for all the starting pitchers I chose.

Do you spot any particular weaknesses that need addressing (other than closers, we already know we're weak on saves).

7x7, 10 team keeper league
- each team has 30 players, 10 keepers with 2 years of eligibility

My team (last year's keepers in parentheses):

C- Jason Varitek, Matt LeCroy
1B- Jim Thome (1 yr), Rafael Palmeiro (1 yr)
2B- Michael Young, Adam Kennedy
SS- Derek Jeter (1 yr), Kazuo Matsui
3B- Eric Hinske (1 yr), Dmitri Young
OF- Ichiro Suzuki (1yr), Garret Anderson, Jim Edmonds(1 yr), Luis Gonzalez(1 yr), Moises Alou

- Curt Schilling (1 yr eligible)
- Derek Lowe (1 yr eligible)
- Livan Hernandez
- Joel Pineiro
- Gil Meche
- Sidney Ponson
- Rich Harden
- Aaron Harang
- Eric Milton
- Tim Redding

- Octavio Dotel (1 yr eligible)
- Shawn Chacon
- Chad Cordero
- Brad Lidge
- Rafael Soriano

If you drafted starters for durability, how'd you end up with Meche and Milton? Sorry, couldn't resist. Solid team overall. Other than possibly saves, I don't see any glaring weaknesses. Do you start two players at all those hitting spots? If not, then you have plenty of depth to use to trade for another closer. Otherwise, watch the waiver wire for any closers who emerge. You have some starters like Harang and Meche who you could probably afford to drop for another closer if you can find one. Good luck.
