I am currently in a 10 team H2H category league.

Here are the categories.

Batting: AVG,HR,R,RBI,SB,OPS,K

Pitching: ERA,K,WHIP,SV,QS,BAA,K/9

Roster
C Mike Napoli, Tex C, 1B
1B Michael Young, Tex 1B, 3B, DH
2B Jemile Weeks, Oak 2B
3B Mark Reynolds, Bal 3B, 1B
SS Asdrubal Cabrera, Cle SS
OF Ryan Braun, Mil OF
OF Hunter Pence, Phi OF
OF Coco Crisp, Oak OF
UTIL Shin-Soo Choo, Cle OF
UTIL Paul Konerko, CWS 1B, DH
Bench B.J. Upton*, TB OF DL15
Bench Jason Kipnis, Cle 2B
Bench Yunel Escobar, Tor SS
Bench Geovany Soto, ChC C
Bench Jurickson Profar, Tex SS
DL Chipper Jones*, Atl 3B DL15
P Zack Greinke, Mil SP
P Jeff Samardzija, ChC RP
P Matt Thornton, CWS RP
P Alexi Ogando, Tex SP
SP Cliff Lee, Phi SP
SP Dan Haren, LAA SP
RP Craig Kimbrel, Atl RP
RP Chris Perez, Cle RP
Bench C.J. Wilson, LAA SP

My question is, should I trade my closers to lock up another category either pitching or batting at the expense of punting saves? If so, what sort of value can I get for Kimbrel?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that in anything other then a 5x5, punting closers is actually a good thing. It gives you the chance to focus on and strengthen other areas.

Help with mine?

Thats what I was thinking too.

I forgot to mention too that there is a 3 closer rule but people are already finding ways around it. Picking up RP that get promoted.

I don't understand why people waste so many picks/players on one maybe two categories.

What kind of value should I go for with Kimbrel?

I disagree with punting on Saves. Yes you might not win saves, but in a 10 team leauge where are you projected but finish with saves right now? Middle of the pack I am guessing OK maybe 4th or 3rd to last maybe higher. What will Kimbrel line be 5 W 45 S 130 K 1.75 era 1.08 whip with 80ip. King Felix wins what 16 games 220 K In 3X the amount of innings. I guess what I am saying Closers are just not a one category player. Kimbrel is going to give you good k's. I think it depends on what your max innings pitched is for your league. I think it will be hard to get good value for Kimbrel right now. He does have high value. Just looking at avg pick you could get sandoval, strasburg, price, cain, cruz. Mccann, lester. I am just now sure someone can afford to give up that much this early in the season.

I am not in favor of punting categories this early unless you went into the draft with that plan. I also don't think you will get enough back from your closers to really help you. Most people don't trust closers and are unwilling to trade too much for them.

So unless you can get something really good for them, I would stand pat and see where you are at in a couple months and then decide.

I've actually punted starters before. In 5x5, you can dominate 3/5 categories by having 6 closers... WHIP, ERA, Saves. Boom, you win pitching every week.

Yeah, that is the reason why they decided to cap closers to 3 this year. I think a few people were doing that last year. Not a bad strategy though if you can get enough decent closers.

The only time i would ever punt is if it's 4th and long.
