20 questions? - WHIR

Postby oxhammer » Tue Apr 03, 2012 2:52 am

I drafted too much speed. I should still be able to take 1st or 2nd even trading away Gardner. Justin Morneau is available as a free agent. I'd like to pick him up as a good gamble. I'm an A's fan, so I'm high on Yoenis Cespedes. Here are some trade offers I might make:

Gardner and Rios for Cespedes and Michael Pineda. Pineda is on the DL, so might be good window of opportunity.
Gardner for Tommy Hanson or Tim Hudson.

I could try Gardner for the following pitchers, but based on need wouldn't likely go through: Mat Latos, Jeremy Hellickson, Ricky Romero, Daniel Hudson, Josh Johnson, Josh Beckett, Jordan Zimmerman, Brandon McCarthy. I could offer Hart or Bourn to sweeten deals if necessary. What moves, trades, and/or drops would you make to improve this team?

Thirteen Team, Standard 5x5 Roto, No Keepers

C - Matt Wieters
1B - Adrian Gonzalez
2B - Ian Kinsler
3B - Kevin Youkilis
SS - Marco Scutaro
OF - Corey Hart
OF - Michael Bourn
OF - Brett Gardner
DH - Angel Pagan
BN - Alex Rios - OF, Bryan LaHair - OF

SP - Cole Hamels, James Shields, Ubaldo Jimenez, Doug Fister, Clay Buchholz, Johan Santana
RP - Andrew Bailey, Carlos Marmol, Sean Marshall, Matt Capps

personally, i would sit on this roster until the season starts, and see if i can trade any players that heat up.

i wouldnt do gardner for hanson or hudson straight up.

if u must, try trading pagan in a package of sorts.

if you wish to gamble on Morneau now, you can always drop LaHair. both are gambles anyway.

I find that SB guys go up in value as the season goes on when people get desperate to make up ground. Sit on your speed for now, build up a solid buffer between you and the pack, THEN trade Gardner/Bourne for a semi-elite pitcher that you listed.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

If you're in a roto league, then I'd agree with the others in taking a wait-and-see approach. you can always accumulate SB's early on. Its also easier to wait on SPs till later on in the season (as you can be more selective on which SP's to play for each start, and then make up ground for innings pitched later on once you find decent options on the waiver)

thanks for the help in mine

I echo everyones thoughts. Get a good lead on steals then trade 1 or 2 away to fill needs.

90% of my posts are from complaining about my team :)
