Which Minor leaguer to pick?

Postby irishstephen071 » Sat Mar 17, 2012 11:57 pm

I got the first pick in my leagues minor league draft, I am debating between a few which are:

SP Trevor Bauer ARI
SP Gerrit Cole PIT
SS Jurickson Profar TEX
SP Tyler Skaggs ARI
SP Danny Hultzen SEA
3B Anthony Rendon WAS

my minor league roster already consists of:
SP Matt Moore TB
1B/OF Jonathan Singleton HOU
SS Miguel Sano MIN

I also have the top pick in the second round as we are only allowed 5 minor leaguers, which I know none of those will be available so I was thinking either
OF Bubba Starling KC (if available)
SP Matt Harvey NYM
SS Francisco Lindor CLE (if I didn't take Profar with 1st pick)
SP James Paxton SEA
1B CJ Cron ANA
1B Matt Adams STL

What your take on my options?

I like Profar with the first pick. The arms are intriguing but one or two either won't live up to the hype or will get hurt (or both) and you just don't know which ones will. Then I would take Starling, Rendon or Lindor. You shouldn't care if you take Profar and Lindor because when it comes to minor league players, take the best player available. Don't look at position. There is talk that the Rangers are going to move Profar to 2B which will get him to the majors quicker (with Andrus at SS) while Lindor has a guy name Ronny Rodriguez who also plays SS and could be just as good. At which point they will have to move one of the two to a new spot.
