The A's have had one of the strangest off seasons that I can remember. I'll tell you one thing, I''ll be avoiding Cespedes this year. Bad park for a hitter mixed with a bad lineup combined with a team that has no immediate need to win so he probably sits in the minors for a couple of months.

They've got Crisp, Reddick and S. Smith already, plus Jonny Gomes. Yeah, unless he blows everyone away in ST I'd figure he's off to Sacramento to start.

I thought Miami was locked in as his location, bad location for him to wind up in.

Why are big market teams avoiding foreign players? I feel like it should be the exact opposite.

Best comment a tweet from Henry Schulman, the Giants beat writer:
Source: Cespedes chose Oakland because he wanted to play in a decrepit, broken-down stadium to remind him of home.

He is not a prospect. He is (reportedly) 26.

He's a big Brad Pitt fan. He dreams one day he could live on in infamy by winning 20 games in a row.

Doesn't mean he's ready for the majors. What kind of competition has he been facing over his career?

And yeah this makes no sense for Oakland. Maybe they want to build up his value and trade him once he's proven something at the MLB level.
