Yeah, like they were saying on MLB Network the other day, if the team is already saying that he may miss the first month, you know there is a problem.

If they can find somewhere to play him....

I'll be sounding the bell for Joe Mauer. I've seen nothing to scare me off him, health-wise, and if healthy he's a monster option at C for me, or he has a good shot anyway. He's just too talented a hitter. He'll be getting reps at 1B, giving him extra ABs which are key for fantasy catchers' value. I'm definitely not expecting anything close to his 2009, but a return to excellent BA and impressive Runs/RBI for a catcher could be in his future. He's still being drafted in the 80-90 range which is probably before I'll take a catcher, but if he slips for some reason or it's an established league, I'd look to acquire him on the cheap.

If he gets anywhere near his '10 form, he'll get his at-bats. Not saying that's definitely gonna happen, but HUGE sleeper potential if it does...

The problem with Mauer will be who gets on base in front of him to drive in?

Even if he's hitting he's still got Pujols and Trumbo to deal with, so I'm just not sold on his ABs. Maybe if Trumbo lands the full-time job at 3B there's some daylight for a Morales bounce back, but that's asking for a lot of dominoes to fall your way IMO.

Obviously he has the potential for a big bounce back but there are a lot of roadblocks.

You make a good point, Fenris. I hadn't considered the fact that his path to playing time might be obstructed to a greater degree than it was two seasons ago. But the team would be crazy not to get him in there somewhere, after the potential he displayed during the 2010 season.
