“Do you know the guy doesn’t really like baseball that much?” Ricciardi said to the caller. “Do you know the guy doesn’t have a passion to play the game that much? How much do you know about the player?

“There’s a reason why you’re attracted to some players and there’s a reason why you’re not attracted to some players. I don’t think you’d be very happy if we brought Adam Dunn here …

“We’ve done our homework on guys like Adam Dunn and there’s a reason why we don’t want Adam Dunn. I don’t want to get into specifics.

Perhaps JP was right about Dunn, after all?

I remember that... and I remember thinking it was stupid of JP to say it, as I still do. Adam Dunn would've helped a lot more in the past 3 seasons than any of his other major signings, ie: AJ Burnett, BJ Ryan, Alex Rios, and Vernon Wells.

Didn't JP usually wait until after he signed the player to overpriced contracts before he started bashing them?

How serendipitous today's poll is about how bad Dunn has been, I just sent a friend an email I was going to share here.

Headed into today I’m 1570/6050 or 260 average (.25950)

Take out Adam Dunn’s abortionful 60/367 and my average climbs to .26570, or good enough for 7 points in the standings!

Take out his 11 HR and I lose 1 point, I lose 2 points in runs, and 2 points in RBI. Adam Dunn has been worth -2 points to me this season over an empty roster spot. That’s almost impossible.

Has that ever happened in roto, where an empty roster spot is worth more than having a real player? %-6

Internet is back after the hurricane.

Team has still been rolling but remains really vulnerable in several cats so can't sleep on them now.

Have King Felix and Bumgarner going today...Bum is putting up a great line so far. Looking forward to game 2 of Yanks/Sox tonight, hopefully Hughes can put a quality start together.

When did this become about the Blue Jays? While JP was generally a good GM, he made tons of brutal mistakes (the Wells and Ryan deals stand out).

If you're looking for a reason why Adam Dunn has fallen so far out of nowhere, though, don't overlook his mental makeup. I don't doubt that the JP's opinion of Dunn was pretty universal around baseball.

Stupid to say it to the open media, but it was entertaining. You don't generally get that kind of insight from GMs.
