Trade Bait: Holliday, Young, Youkilis, or Hamilton. WHIR

Postby Seanyfever » Tue Jul 26, 2011 3:36 pm

I am looking to get myself one more upper end pitcher..... Which of the following players would you be most inclined to move?
Essentially, who is the least likely to produce for the rest of the season? I have positional players to cover. Longoria at third base, Fielder at first base, and Bruce waiting to get in in the outfield.

Youkilis
Young... Though I love that he would be my DH and cover my postions (1B/2B/3B) in the event of an inury.
Holliday
Hamilton

I'll respond to your post. WHIR. Leave a link.

Youkilis most definitely. im trying to trade him myself. package youk and a middle of the line pitcher for an ace. IMO.

keep holliday and hamilton for sure.

Maybe think about shopping young but his versatility and production is bar none right now. Keep all rangers you got! hahah

In terms of production for the rest of this season, I like Holliday and Hamilton the best.

Between Young and Youkilis, I think they are pretty similar in value. Young will not be spectacular, but he will get a lot of r/rbi in that amazing offense. Youk has a higher cieling, but it comes at a price. Young is the safer bet, while youk could explode in another very potent offense.

I would try to move Youk, but it is very close.

I would drop Michael Young. True, he is having a great season, but I would argue that he's due for a regression due to a high BABIP (even by his historically high BABIP standards). Power-wise, I think Youk goes for at least 10 more home runs than Young when this season is over. Also, Youk gives you 3B eligibility which is huge and I think he will continue to do big things this year. Young's positional versitility does give him a boost but I still would value Youk more.

Either young or youk, tough to choose between the two, but youk probably.

I would have to say if you need more power, then trade away Young. If you need more AVG then trade Youk. Youk does typically regress some in the 2nd half though, so that will prob be something you need to take into consideration.
