Pick a free agent

Postby nyr199435 » Sat Jul 23, 2011 8:26 pm

I'll have one empty spot on my roster come tomorrow, and I'm wondering who to add. The way our league is set up pitchers are VERY valuable, so I've only been keeping one bench batter all season for "just in case" scenarios, and I've loaded up on pitching. That strategy had me in first for a while, and now I'm in second and 2 games out of 1st. Anyway, with Bruce sitting out recently and Youk leaving the game last night, I feel like I might need another batter. Still, if they're going to be bench players they don't really do me any good. It's an 8-team league so there are a lot of good FA's. If someone gets hurt I can probably find a good FA add in a pinch, which makes me think carrying around another pitcher is the best idea. I'm leaning toward Bumgarner, but with my team who would you add?
My roster:
One year, 8 teams, H2H points
Joe Mauer
Albert Pujols
Freddie Freeman
Rickie Weeks
Ian Kinsler
Kevin Youkilis
Jose Bautista
Derek Jeter
Justin Upton
Jay Bruce
Mike Stanton

SP: Lincecum, Cain, Kershaw, Jimenez, Hellickson, Vogelsong, Luebke
RP: Rivera, Marmol, Feliz, Storen, Street
DL: Johan Santana, Stephen Strasberg

Note: players I'm really considering bolded

Ichiro Suzuki
Martin Prado
Alexei Ramirez
Starlin Castro
Matt Wieters
Jhonny Peralta
Mark Reynolds
Melky Cabrera
Brennan Boesch
Brett Gardner
Danny Espinosa
Emilio Bonifacio
Cameron Maybin
Travis Snider

Brett Lawrie (stash him)

Joakim Soria
Francisco Liriano
Kyle Farnsworth
Fernando Salas
Madison Bumgarner
Ryan Dempster
Joe Nathan (4th save in 4 chances today, but only 1 K in those 4 chances)
Alex Cobb
Bartolo Colon
Jason Isringhausen
Dillon Gee
Jeff Niemann
Matt Garza

Thanks a lot guys, and I'll gladly return the favor!!

I would go with Espinosa or Castro, whichever you like better, personally for me its Espinosa. You need the most help at SS IMO which I would go with one of them.

If you really want to continue this pitching thing you have going, then personally I like Niemann the best for the nxt while. He has OAK, SEA and KC on tabs perhaps he gets TOR if he is unlucky but still a great schedule for him coming up.

I like Castro as well. I also actually really like Wieters and he might have better numbers than Mauer in the future if Mauer cannot stay healthy. Espinosa is good, I just think the average is too low.

Help me out too...
