LOTR for me. I'd argue the merits of both, but who am I to tell you what you like? Enjoy either - or enjoy kicking Lo in the nuts, if that's your more your speed. :-D

I would rather repeatedly kick Lo in the nuts than have to watch any of the Harry Potter movies one more time. I wasn't as big on the LoTR movies as most were, but the books were some of the first novels I ever tore through.

Harry Potter. Both movie series were good although I've watched the Harry Potter series more often... and I'm definitely a bigger fan of the Potter books, I don't think there has been another series that sucked me in as much as those ones did. FWIW, Lord of the Rings has already been on Bluray for awhile, this release is the extended editions which unlike other extended editions which tack on 5-10 minutes of extra footage, this adds about another whole movie's worth of footage to the trilogy and really is the only way you should buy them. Yes, they are long enough as it is, but it's worth it.

Maybe you should add Twilight to this too?

Never seen any LOTR/HP movie but I've read all the books. LOTR did pretty much kickstart the genre, but after 50 years it's become rehashed to the point where it seems predictable and unrefined compared to the newer stuff. I have the same thoughts about classic rock; I respect it for its quality and the fact that pretty much all music today is at least partly based on it, but I don't listen to it much myself.

Never read the LOTR books but the movies sucked for the most part. I loved the Harry Potter books and most the movies are pretty decent, though #7 part 1 sucked balls.

Judging the Lord of the Rings novels by the Peter Jackson movies would be like judging a Bordeaux by wine vinegar. It is so completely not the same as to be an entirely different animal.

If we're talking novels, it's LOTR and it's not even close. If we're talking movies, I'd rather watch the Harry Potter movies 100 times before having to sit through the LOTR movies again once.

Never read any of the Harry Potter books and I've only seen about half of one of the movies, so LOTR for me.
