Is this a fair deal for Bruce?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Thu Jun 02, 2011 2:25 pm

10 team H2H league, 9x9 cats, keeper league(3 players after round 3 can be kept)

I would love to grab Bruce if I can especially since I could keep him next year. The guy who has him is in last place and may just trade him.....or maybe not. Please help me put together a deal for him. My weakness is pitching and OF. I was thinking about offering Reyes, Colby Lewis and Dunn for Bruce, Asdrubal and Cueto. Would I be giving up too much here? Take a look at our teams and help me with a deal if you don't like my offer....thanks and leave your links.

I would need way more than that... You're undervaluing Bruce and overvaluing Dunn.

Also.... the fact that it is a keeper league really shifts a ton of value away from Reyes, anyone thinking to the future would stay away from that lightning rod, and Jay Bruce has about as much keeper value as possible.

I agree...If I were him you'd be giving me a Kershaw or Price easily.

Propose the deal and see what happens but I think you're trying to rob him in that deal you listed. It'd be great if he accepted but don't be surprised when he doesn't. Plus as a last place team, he may want more pieces for his stud, like a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal to improve at a few spots...

Bruce is definitely playing out of his mind right now, and may be hard to get without giving up too much in return. Bruce tends to be a streaky player, you may want to wait until he cools off. Right now you would be buying high. He would probably want Cano looking at how weak he is at 2B, or possibly an ace pitcher.

I don't think it's THAT bad of an offer. Some people still have faith in Dunn, so, I don't think it's offensive. I do think it's a big win for you, but, not something where you have to worry about ticking him off. Obviously, do it if you can.

Thanks for your help on my Hanley question.

Agreed, I would wait and see if he cools off some. I would quickly reject that offer. Dunn has slowly been losing his value all year and at this point he will not get you mucch in return. Hopefully by the time that Bruce cools off, Dunn will have turned it on, then the offer gets a little better.

My theory is as follows..
Sell high, buy low. Right now Bruce is as hot as he is gonna get. Is he good or even great, of course, but you know a correction is coming. Considering the fact that you're going to have to give a lot to get him would make me wait until hes in a slump. Then the price won't be as high. Just my 2c.

I think it's sorta lop-sided (favorable to you), but you can always offer it. Bruce has been crushing the ball and should have a career year. Asdrubal is slightly better than Reyes for me, Cueto and Lewis are a wash. Dunn should be able to start putting up #'s but I would much rather have Bruce.
