Which 1B should I offer for Chase?

Postby mbfan1982 » Wed Jun 01, 2011 3:36 am

Ok, so a guy in my league just put Chase Utley up on the trading block. I have an excess of 1Bs (and OFs) that I could trade and I have been in desperate need of a more solid option at 2B or 3B. He also has Cano and Zobrist that can play 2B. For my roster see below at the end of the post.

This is a 6x6 10 man roto league (R, RBI, HR, SB, AVG, OPS x W, SV, HLD, K, ERA, WHIP). I'm currently in 2nd place, about 10 points behind the leader.

My question is, which 1B should I offer him? I'm leaning towards Berkman for several reasons, but the real question is, do you think he'll take this trade (or that I'm offering too much)? Berkman is off to a hot start but I'm not convinced he'll stay healthy all season. Or should I get crazy and offer Prince or Votto instead for Cano?

My team:

C - Brian McCann
1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Jed Lowrie
3B - Neil Walker
SS - Derek Jeter
OF - Curtis Granderson
OF - Corey Hart
OF - Lance Berkman
Util - Joey Votto
BN - Logan Morrison (OF)
BN - Rajai Davis (OF)
BN - Michael Bourn (OF)
BN - Eric Hosmer (1B)

SP - Clayton Kershaw
SP - Tim Lincecum
SP - Michael Pineda
RP - Mike Adams
RP - Jordan Walden
RP - Grant Balfour
P - Tony Sipp
P - Brian Wilson
P - David Price
BN - Zach Britton
BN - Jered Weaver
DL - David Aardsma

If you can get Cano, I would go that route. But I am betting the guy doesn't feel that strongly about Utley and is trying to get something of value for him. If you make an offer for Utley using Berkman, you should be able to get something else in return. The injury scare is too much just to do that deal straight up.
