Dynasty Trade - WHIR

Postby curl » Thu May 26, 2011 2:59 pm

I'm in a 16 team 27 man roster head to head league with standard with OBP, SLG, QS, and HD in addition to 5x5 standard categories.

I was offered the following trade:

My Ian Kinsler and Jonny Venters

for his Chase Utley, Chris Carpenter, and Francisco Cordero

My roster:

C - JP Arencibia
1B - Miguel Cabrera
2b - Ian Kinsler
3b - Danny Valencia
ss - Stephen Drew
of - Adam Jones
of - Nick Markakis
of - Corey Hart
util - Carlos Pena
bench - Kurt Suzuki
bench - Travis Snider
bench - Danny Espinosa
bench - Desmond Jennings
bench - Seth Smith

sp - Mat Latos, Jhoulys Chacin, Rick Porcello, Ubaldo Jimenez, Chad Billingsly, Gio Gonzalez, Matt Garza, Edwin Jackson, Andy Oliver, Jacob Turner

rp - Frank Francisco, Evan Meek, Jonny Venters, Jason Isringhausen

So, obviously, for this year alone the trade looks like it could be solid. Venters has obviously been amazing so far, but holds guys are relatively easy to find on waivers. I'd probably end up dropping Jacob Turner who I don't expect will be called up until at least next year as it is. The question is, is the short term boost from Carpenter/Cordero (both are 36) worth taking the chance that Utley can regain some of his past success? Obviously my back up, Espinosa isn't exactly a sure thing at this point, but he does provide a bit of a safety net in case Utley just never returns to form. Thoughts?

I think it's worth a shot. The guy is clearly selling low on Carp, but he has started to turn it around and he could end up being a nice #2 or #3 at worst. Utley/Kinsler is fairly close is Utley returns to prominence. Cordero has been excellent and has more value than Venters. In the end you are making out very nicely here. Take the deal.

I definitely like it for you. It is a steal really, if Utley and Carp do 3/4 of what they are capable of, you win big time. Plus you get lots of saves from Cordero. Push accept.

please help
