Calling All Pitchers!!! whir

Postby etl1692 » Fri May 20, 2011 3:30 pm

So in my league it looks like the new trend is to have way more pitchers than batters. We are allowed to have 5 bench players, and There are a few teams that have all 5 bench spots as pitchers and just rotates them in daily when pitching (the teams that are doing this are winning, their pitching isnt that great either). So Im wondering is this just skewed based on the points system? would this be a good strategy? Cause its working for the other guys!

League: h2h points 12 teams.
pitching: k's=+1 bb= -1 er= -1 w=+10 L= -5 IP=+1 CG= +10 SHO= +10 SV=+5 HBP= -1
batting: R=+2 H=+1 2B=+2 3B=+3 HR=+4 RBI=+2 SB=+2 K=-1 HBP=+1 BB=+1

I'm employing that strategy myself and I'm in 2nd-place in a very deep, very competitive league. I've got 10 SP's and ride hot hands and 2-start guys. Now, I'm facing some injuries and a couple slumping bats so I'm shopping a an arm for a bat. But, when all things are equal, I'll take a Jake Arrieta on my bench over a Derek Lee. UTI bats are a dime a dozen. But, if I can load a week with 2-start guys...or...if I can sit an SP who's taking on the Rangers in Texas and then start an SP who's taking on the Padres in SD...all without having to make a tough add/drop decision...well, I'm lovin' it.
