Pick 1 - E. Santana or Cueto? (WHIR!)

Postby GiantFanatic » Fri May 06, 2011 1:23 pm

12 team standard H2H league. I have one slot I can play with, looking for feedback on which of these guys to pick-up. Note that I drafted both these guys, dropped them to waivers, and they're still there.

E. Santana - Looked like crap to open the season, last two starts have been solid, but will it last?
J. Cueto - Predicted to be a break-out this season, coming off the DL. I like his prospects, but an unknown before Sunday.

My roster is below. The move would be to drop Boggs for one of these guys (should have picked Santos when I picked him up weeks ago). I've also played with dropping Lowrie, who is starting to look like crap, but his eligibility seems to make him too valuable in a 12 team league.

C - R. Martin
1B - Pujols
2B - N. Walker
3B - A. Gordon
SS - Rollins
OF - Zobrist, Sizemore, Gardner, Hart
Util - McCann, Lowrie, Reynolds
DL - Utley

SP - Kershaw, Buchholz, Garza, Greinke, Morrow, Bumgarner
RP - Soria, Papelbon, Boggs, Bailey

Basically looking for some pitching depth. Leave a link and I'll reply in kind.

i'm not a fan of both but if I had to choose one, I would go with Cueto. His upside is more intersting to me. They both don't have great k/9 but Cueto walks less and probably will give u lower era/whip.

Stay away from E. Santana. He will tempt you with K's but he is utterly inconsistent -- and he doesn't pitch well at home. Cueto has more upside and should get more wins, especially if this is the breakout year we've all been waiting for.

Help, if you please:
