Tough call honestly, but with only 3 OF's I would go with Desmond, in case Alexei gets cold or hurt or something. You have plenty of backup help in the outfield.

Do I forfeit too many HR/RBI by taking Desmond over Delmon or is it worth it due to position scarcity? I am s bit concerned with hr/RBI due to the loss of those cats in a recent deal.

You have 4 good OF and Ellsbury. Even he's over DYoung.
Desmond is a nice ss in case Alexei struggles.

That's why its a tough call because on raw numbers I would expect Delmon to outperform Desmond. However, Delmon basically hit his ceiling last season, whereas Desmond has not even had a chance to hit his, so on potential return Desmond could wow you.

Might have missed on Desmond as I had previously had the claim in for Delmon and the clock's struck midnight here.

Anyone I could drop for Desmond if I took a crack at him too? Ogando or Drabek? I assume neither probably.

Does anyone know whether your claim needs to be in prior to the date listed by the player's name on waivers, OR does it just need to be in prior to when Yahoo processes it (I.e. If it says April 21 and I threw a claim in right now in the wee hours, would it go through or would I have had to put the claim in no later than April 20?)

Forget about position scarcity for this one. You have 3 MI'ers and Lowrie can play either MI spot. So you're probably only going to use your new player at UT and Delmon should be quite a bit better than Desmond overall. Desmond is just the ordinary waiver wire replacement that's usually available. Nothing special imo.

Man I wish i had seen this before the claim was due. Went with Desmond due to the early advisings in that direction as definitely having some buyers remorse as a team already loaded with rbis just scooped him up. Oh well. I know some teams need SS help so maybe I can peddle someone for some RBI help. Who is the best bait that I should dangle: Alexei, lowrie or Desmond?
