Large deal, how does it look?

Postby rjforlife » Thu Apr 21, 2011 1:59 am

5x5 H2H league: Keep up to 7 guys. And Coco Crisp is on the waiver wire if I were to want to replace Gardner's speed.

Assume this is the only deal I could get and it's a one time offer. I am looking to shake things up a bit and clearly need some power, but wouldn't mind a potential keeper like Chacin.

I get:(cost would be for next season)

Adam Dunn- $25
BJ Upton- $16
Wandy Rodriguez-$6
Jhoulys Chacin- $5
Ryan Franklin- $5

I give:

Hunter Pence- $20
Aramis Ramirez- $11
Brett Gardner- $11
Madison Bumgarner- $7
Jonathan Papelbon- $8

My squad:

C Russell Martin
1B Adam LaRoche
2B Ian Kinsler
3B Aramis Ramírez
SS Jhonny Peralta
CI Alex Gordon
MI Jonathan Herrera
OF Ryan Braun
OF Hunter Pence
OF Jay Bruce
OF Álex Ríos
Util Chris Young
Util Logan Morrison
BN Brett Gardner
BN Matt LaPorta
BN Brennan Boesch
BN Chris Davis
BN Michael Cuddyer

P Félix Hernández
P Justin Verlander
P Jonathan Papelbon
P Jonathan Broxton
P Daniel Hudson
P Ian Kennedy
P Chad Billingsley
P Craig Kimbrel
P Travis Wood
BN Madison Bumgarner
DL Brandon Morrow
DL Frank Francisco
DL Johnny Cueto

His:

C Brian McCann
1B Adam Dunn
2B Dustin Pedroia
3B José Bautista
SS Stephen Drew
CI Víctor Martínez
MI Chone Figgins
OF Jacoby Ellsbury
OF B.J. Upton
OF Michael Bourn
OF Nick Markakis
Util Adrián Béltre
Util Miguel Montero
BN Adam Lind
BN Rajai Davis
BN Yunel Escobar
BN Asdrubal Cabrera
BN Kurt Suzuki

P Heath Bell
P Wandy Rodríguez
P Francisco Rodríguez
P Ted Lilly
P J.J. Putz
P Ryan Franklin
P Colby Lewis
P Jhoulys Chacin
P Rafael Soriano

Chacin at $5 could be great next year. You're not giving up anything too painful. A $20 Pence is nice, but a $16 Upton isn't bad. You could really use the upgrade at 1B, too. I'm assuming Gordon shifts over to 1B, then you fill CI with LaPorta/Cuddyer? That's not terrible. I like this deal, think it makes a lot of sense. Getting Wandy is kind of mixed bag. If this is the deal, non-negotiable, fine, but if there's any way you can replace Ryan Franklin with something approaching a useful player, that would be good too.

The thing with Franklin is that I would drop him and add Crisp, who is only $5 as well. And Crisp is a suitable replacement for Gardner if need be.

Of who u give up, I'd only really miss pence and paps. Oh who u get, I like all but Franklin, since I'll dump him for crisp, I say this is a good call.

I don't think Wandy, Upton, or Franklin will live up to even that much money. Jhoulys Chacin on the other hand I believe would be well worth it. Dunn is good for the power if you can get AVG elsewhere. I don't believe it's worth it but I'm also pretty new to Fantasy Baseball.

One thing to consider: the combo of Upton and Dunn could br murder on your batting average, so be assured you have sufficient buffer there.

Can you check the PM I just sent u and let me know your quick thoughts? Thanks.

Funny thing is, I am basically punting average. Just look at that team:

Also, with this deal I am swapping out starting LaRoche/Gardner for Dunn/Upton. I know the former two will come back to their norms a bit but I don't think it really hurts my average all that much.

I like it. Dunn is going to give you the power you want and hopefully Upton will be at least 15/35. I love Chacin and think he could be a great value keeper for you. Franklin sucks, but you obviously have a plan for that. I don't think it's a slam dunk, but I think it is worth doing to shake things up a bit.

I like the trade. I think both Dunn and B.J. will be good later in the season. The thing that would kill it for me is Ryan Franklin but because you have a plan for that I think you will be better off after the trade.

Mind if you take a look at mine?
