Franklin Gutierrez - time to cut?

Postby ace8842 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 12:28 am

This is my first year playing fantasy baseball, and I am in a 20 team league. In the first 2 weeks, I have had the following players on the DL. Ubaldo Jiminez P, Ryan Zimmerman 3B, Jason Bay OF, Franklin Guiterrez OF, and Rajai Davis OF. At one point, I had 8 players injured, 5 on the DL. My biggest problem is I have to play 4 OF's and 3 are injured. We are supposed to us 9 pitchers, but with all the injuries I am only playing 8. Somehow despite all this, I'm still in 10th out of 20, but I could fall further back I'm afraid if I don't do anything.

We start 4 OF's, and my current ones are:

Delmon Young
Sam Fuid
Austin Jackson
Omar Infante (usable as an OF)

Injured I have Jason Bay, Rajai Davis, and Franklin Gutierrez. Would you drop Gutierrez and pick up a P, and then once Jiminez comes back pick up a positional player? I feel like what I need is flexibility or I could fall so far behind waiting for injured guys to come back. Gutierrez might be going to a special nationwide clinic for his ongoing stomach problems.

I would ok dropping Bay or Gutierrez. I know this is a deep league but make the move if that is what is best for your team neither one of these guys are going to be all that great.

They don't even know what's wrong with the guy yet. :-o Probably time to cut the cord on Gutierrez.

Per CBS:

The Mariners will stop Franklin Gutierrez's rehab assignment and likely send him to a national facility for further examination of his stomach issues, reports the Seattle Times Saturday. The team has not yet decided his ultimate destination, but this should be considered a setback. The Mayo Clinic was one of the places discussed for his examination.
