Second guessing myself on trade

Postby Triplec223 » Sat Apr 09, 2011 4:41 pm

Just got Zack Greinke for Brett Gardner/Jonathan Broxton. I'm in a 10-team H2H keeper league where we can keep four players. I was thinking long term, Greinke will be more valuable than Gardner, and Broxton won't hold onto the closer's job forever (maybe not by August).

Now I'm starting to regret it looking at what Gardner could possibly do this year. Also Greinke's health is bugging me since he'll be out at least another month, and then who knows what he looks like when he comes back.

Hopefully I can snatch up another elite SB/R guy in the OF like Gardner (Mike Trout, Desmond Jennings?). With the 2-for-1 trade, I now have an empty roster spot. Losing Broxton, I'll be on the lookout for a closer-in-waiting too.

Our scoring categories are AVG, HR, R, RBI, SB, OPS and ERA, W, SV, K, WHIP, K:BB. My team now looks like this:
C: Mike Napoli
1B: Prince Fielder
2B: Brandon Phillips
SS: Elvis Andrus
3B: Evan Longoria/Alex Gordon
OF: Matt Kemp
OF: Jay Bruce
OF: Nick Markakis
UTIL: Jorge Posada
BN: Chone Figgins

Jon Lester
Zack Greinke
Cole Hamels
Gio Gonzalez
Jordan Zimmerman
Matt Garza

Don't feel too bad. You received the best player in the deal. When Greinke is healthy and motivated he's a top 5 SP. I like Broxton and Gardner, but this is a risky, but solid move.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.

The trade was fine. And really can't be judged until after you pick someone else up. If Greinke is lights out for 5 months and Jennings gets hot, you won't even think twice about this trade.
