Too much for Braun? WHIR!!!

Postby CubsFan4Life23 » Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:46 pm

12 team keeper league (we keep 4), H2H 5x5 (obp replaces avg)

The guy offered me Mauer for JUpton, but not sure if that's good value for Upton and have never been a fan of Mauer...I was thinking that since he wants both Upton and McGehee from me, I would offer those two for Braun and Pineda...AM I giving up too much?

My Team:
Arencibia
M. Cabrera / G. Sanchez
Prado / Raburn / Hill
Tulowitzki
R Zimmerman / McGehee
Pence / J Upton / Rasmus / Pagan / Gordon

Hanson / Cain / Bumgarner / D Hudson / C Zambrano / Garza / Kennedy / PeavyDL / Strasburg DL

I punted saves this season, just so you know.

Thanks for the help!! Leave a link. ;-D

Let me first start off by saying thanks for the help.

Looking at your team, I'd rather the mauer for JUP trade. If for no other reason, you get the best catcher in fantasy baseball (arguably I guess). To answer the question you made the thread about, yes I think you're giving up too much for braun. If that's the direction you feel best going, pineda certainly needs an upgrade.

Well definitely looking for more feedback on his initial offer of Mauer for JUpton, but also on Braun/Pineda for McGehee/JUpton...He also has John Danks, would him along with Braun make for a good deal?

Well, my thoughts are go for it. Braun is a first round choice in any league, and if you had the first round pick and Upton and Braun were available, which one would you pick? Honestly, I think the first one, Mauer for Upton, is fair and would make your team better. If I was the other guy, I wouldnt even think about trading Braun for Upton, oh and your 2nd best 3B too, who you probably have no real plans on using. If he goes for that then awesome for you, good steal, if not, go with the Mauer trade, youll still come out on top of that one IMO

I like the idea of the second deal. McGehee doesn't mean much to you with Zimmerman, and Braun is a pretty big upgrade over Upton.

McGehee does have value, so maybe you can get someone a little better than Pineda. I would start with asking for Braun and a better pitcher; if he balks then ask for Pineda.

I agree with deal 2 ... you have Zimmerman at 3B, and Braun is a stud. Seems like JUpton gets hurt a lot or goes thru lengthy slumps. Pineda has upside too.

Thanks for the help on the earlier trade. It fell off the table sadly, so if u have a chance: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=426638

I would do either trade. I think you're getting a steal in that Braun trade. Also, I believe Mauer will finish better than JUp this year. You already have plenty of good keepers on your team.

I still drool over Justin Upton's potential. I would rather play the hot catcher every week than lose Upton and have Mauer. And I'm not sure how much longer Mauer's body holds up playing C everyday.

If you could get Braun for Upton, yeah sure, pick whichever you like. In keeper leagues though, I'm sticking with Upton until he proves without a shadow of a doubt that he will never live up to the hype. I hope that day never comes.

No way i would trade Upton for the overrated Mauer.
Upton is a keeper for you even with only 4.
While Braun is better, you ae giving up too much imo.
