Rasmus/Hellickson deal - WHIR

Postby tyson56 » Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:05 pm

Its a Keeper league, 20 teams, H2H Categories, 15 keepers
Avg, HR, OPS, Runs, RBI, SB - ERA, WHIP, Wins, K, SV, HD

My Team:
C: Santana
1b: Helton with Hosmer on the way
2b: Utley with Valdez/Lowrie holding it down for now and Ackley on the way
SS: Hardy
3b: Zimmerman
OF: CarGo
OF: Braun
OF: Rasmus
Bench: Domonic Brown and Desmond Jennings

P: Hanson, Hamels, Brett Anderson, Matusz, Porcello, Mike Minor
RP: Lidge, McGee, Aaron Crow, Jeffress, Tim Collins, Zach Braddock, Ryan Perry

With Matusz going to the DL, I'm thinking I might need a little pitching help for now and in the future. With Jennings and Brown on the way, I figure Rasmus is my best trade chip. So the trade I have been offered is:

Rasmus, Minor and Braddock
Hellickson and Alex Gordon

Gives me a stop-gap OF and possible breakout candidate in Gordon, and the best major league ready pitching prospect in the game. Am I overvaluing Hellickson here? I see Hellickson as a possible 5 category stud since he has such great control and is on a good team. Rasmus can hurt me in BA and doesn't offer that many SB's, but has a good amount of power and is in a pretty decent lineup (atleast for now). Should I hold out for more, or pull the trigger?

If I'm you, I'm hanging onto Rasmus. Hitting over pitching, and Rasmus is one of those rare players who's capable of doing it all at the plate. He's in line for a huge season this year.
