14-Team Draft Strategy

Postby bobnerns » Wed Mar 16, 2011 3:35 pm

Every year I've played fantasy baseball, we've only had 10 teams. For some reason, we expanded to 14 teams this year. We are playing H2H most categories, ESPN standard 25-man roster, 10 categories.

I was wondering if anyone had any draft advice for me. Our draft order is set and I'm the 9th pick (9, 20, 37, 65, 76, 93, 104, 121, 132, 149, 160, 177, 188, 205, 216, 233, 244, 261, 272, 289, 300, 317, 328, 345). My initial thought is 1B and 3B with my first two picks, then try to get my 2B and SS in two of my next four picks.

Other than that, I'm not so sure. How early should I get my starters? Should I prioritize outfielders over starters?

I don't plan on drafting any closers early. My hopes are to get two of the late closers and maybe one or two good middle relievers who are next in line.

And since we are drafting 350 players (which seems like a ton), who are some deep sleepers I should look at in late rounds (rated around 200+ or 250+).
