6 player trade, should I pull the trigger?

Postby JHubRoyals » Tue Mar 15, 2011 7:06 pm

12-team 7 Keeper, 5 Propsect Roster, 5x5 Roto league. We just finished our draft two days ago and already I have received a mini-blockbuster trade offer.

I receive: Justin Morneau, Yovani Gallardo and Brian Wilson

I give up: Mark Teixera, Jhoulys Chacin and Jonathan Broxton

Should I do it? I'm obviously giving up the best player involved in Tex and replacing him with a huge injury risk, but the other two players are clear upgrades.

Here is my team:
C- C. Iannetta
1B- M. Teixiera
2B- I. Kinsler
SS- M. Aviles
3B- A. Ramirez
MI- R. Raburn
CI- B. Butler
OF- C. Gonzalez, A. McCutchen, CB Young, Ad. Jones, V. Wells
UTIL- C. Crisp
Bench- W. Venable, C. Pena, E. Encarnacion, Kila Ka'aihue

SP- Cl. Lee, S. Marcum, W. Rodriguez
RP- J. Broxton, B. Lyon
P- D. Storen, M. Garza, J. Chacin, T. Cahill
Bench- B. Fuentes, Ed. Jackson, T. Wood, A. Wainwright

Thanks for any help!

Just too much risk here with Morneau to feel good about this trade
When asking for roster advice in these pages, remember there are thousands of different sets of league rules & many different active roster settings. If you want the best replies, be sure to include your leagues particulars in the original post

Hmmm I guess I was way off by being tempted by this trade.

I wouldn't be so quick to turn it down. I would sit on it a bit and see how Morneau's health turns out. Gallardo and Wilson are pretty big upgrades.
League Setup:
13 Team Points League
6 Hitters 3 Pitchers (Positions don't matter)
1B = 1, 2B = 2, 3B = 3, HR = 4, RBI = 1
Win = 12, Save = 5

Morneau is a huge risk and if he misses any time at all due to his concussion problems then you get absolutely killed in this trade.
Also i think Chacin is poised to have a really big year and may even be on par with Gallardo (who also got hurt last yr) but with just a little lower K rate (~9.5K/9 vs 8.5K/9 projected for 2011)
yes, Wilson is better than Broxton, but how much value does 1 closer really have?

So i turn this trade down.

can you help out on my post regarding mock draft results?
