2011 CLOSERS THREAD

Just a general FYI, I have Parnell on my team and noticed he was being used in the 8th inning tonight, and it does look like the Mets are being jerks about naming a closer again and going with a committee of sorts. Acosta got the closer role tonight in a save situation and blew it, but then got lucky when the Mets gave him a win. Acosta, it seems, has been the best Mets reliever lately, so he might continue to be the "head" of the committee, but who knows what the Mets want to do. They may want to continue to try and test out other relievers because their season is obviously over and they want to find a possible closer for next season, which would leave a headache for fantasy owners who need closers for the playoffs. I somehow completely missed this, but it looks like Acosta got an easy save with 2 K's back on Sept. 7th. So I guess, as a Parnell owner, I'm gonna keep holding onto him for now and pick up Acosta if I have a chance and if I have the roster room. FWIW, Izzy also appears to be in the committee, though I'd have to assume he's the 3rd option since he's old, already got his 300th save, and old. And he sucks. And if I were he Mets, I'd definitely get rid of him by next season, but who knows what the Mets are thinking. Even Beato might be considered for the closing job.

ROTOWORLD:
Mets manager Terry Collins said that if a save situation arises Saturday, he will likely go with Bobby Parnell.

How'd that work out for ya, Terry?

Acosta's been lights out the last couple of weeks, but I have no inside info. Anyone else?

Farnsworth out a few days with a sore elbow. Peralta got the save last night.

Dynasty league question: Is it worth cutting ties with Salas?

Probably but it would be nice to see how he pitches for the rest of the season and on the other side how Motte does. Salas has a good arm though but I bet you could get him early next season if needed.

Probably an unknown but who exactly is closing for the Giants and the Mets? Lol.

Trying to make a championship run and to vulture as many closers as I can. Have already vultured Jim Johnson, Betancourt, Joel Peralta.

I had Parnell and he was terrible. I'd assume it'd be Acosta by now so I've added him but they haven't had a recent save opp. As far as the Giants I have had Affeldt, Romo, Casilla, Ramirez at some point and dropped them all because I don't know who in the heck it is.

Also a question about the Dodgers? Who would assume the closer role in 2012? Would they bring broxton back, keep guerra, or move Jansen into the role?
C - Pierzynski
1b - Dunn
2b - Cano
3b - Beltre
SS - Rotating
OF - Bruce, De Aza, Cespedes
Util - Encarnacion
BN - Asdrubal, Adam Jones, Freddie Freeman

SP - Price, Gallardo, Rotating SP
RP - Myers, Perez, Nathan, Perkins, Wilhelmsen

My guess is Casilla for the Giants and Acosta for the Mets.

My guess would be Jansen next season. We probably won't have a good idea til spring training though.
